My main focus in SCA costuming is 12th Century Norman women's clothing. (Because that's my persona.)
Norman women's clothing consisted of an undertunic and a bliaut. The bliaut is characterized by long flowing sleeves, a tight bodice, and a very full skirt. There are as many interpretations of how the bliaut was cut and sewn as there are people who've studied them. I'm no exception. I've tried about three different cuts, and finally settled on one that seems the most like what was probably used in period. I also happen to like it the best of the three in terms of fit.
