| Braveheart is probably the movie with the best representation of cotehardies I can find. Though I disagree that the people during this time period would be wearing cotehardies versus a Norman Tunic, (the womens clothing I believe is at least 30 years out of context) it shows excellent representation of the garment itself. Here are a few pictures courtesy Paramount Pictures and Braveheart Websites--some of which don't exist anymore. Unfortunate. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| The headpiece here that Princess Isabelle is wearing is actually quite period. I found a picture of a funerary statue of Marguerite d'Artois made in the 14th Century that has a headpiece very similar to this. This is of course a speculation on what the headpiece on the statue is, but I think it looks very authentic. Kudos to the costume designer. I'm actually attempting to make one similar to this. Wish me luck! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| To the left you see a beautiful picture of a cotehardie, with the buttons going up the arms and a patterned style. I believe if you were able to take a closer look at it on the movie, it was actually made of courderoy. Sorry guys, I couldn't find any pictures of male cotehardies. I'll keep looking though. :) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| S.C.A. Interpretations: The following pictures I've taken from websites. I think they are a good representation of the cotehardie. I plan on scanning some pictures I already have and adding them to this page soon. So grin and bear with the few pictures I have now. More to come! To the right is the lovely Lady Robyn VonGlonn and her husband Don Tryffin Mac Ualriag of the Shire of Caer Galen, Outlands (Broomfield, CO). It's a green and burgundy parti-coloured gown. And below is a wonderful couple from the canton of Three Hills, Pentamere, in the Midrealm. I'm still looking for their full names (the woman is Lady Michaela if I'm not mistaken), but I see them a lot at events, and I'm hoping to get them to model for me sometime. :) |

| I'll be putting pictures of some of my cotehardies up soon hopefully. I just need to get them scanned. Again, feel free to leave comments on the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
