The Norris books all need to be used carefully as a source - often his pattern sketches can make things easier to understand or can be used to explain to a new sempstress, and for initial inspiration, they can be just fine.

Because these are Victorian-era books (despite the publication date of the displayed editions), there is a definite bias in his interpretation - sometimes his details are simply wrong. The Victorians tended to soften and change many items of clothing to be closer to an Ideal that they saw. This makes Norris a tertiary source, at best - use him for explanation, or demonstration, and confirm all details with primary sources.
